If the box is too cold or too hot (depending where you are!!) the wood may have swelled slightly. I'd suggest letting it acclimate for a few hours or so.

Just leave it on the side out of its box for a few days / week. Don't leave it by a window where it could get damp again. Don't put it in an airing cupboard either. Whatever you do, don't force it.
