What the *&@% did i just read?!?!? :? ;)

Considering my Lotus hasn't done anything spectacular since I opened the package it came in, im not surprised i don't understand any of that

also got me some new puzzles from Wil yesterday:

4 Step Visible Lock
2 Rings Teddy
Auf Dem Holsweg
Safe
1 Euro Laby
Melting Block
7 Move Aluminium Burr

Still got the Auf Dem Holsweg, Safe, 1 Euro Laby and the Melting Block to do, which is good considering I only opened the package at 8pm last night ;)

PS. love the 2 Rings Teddy!!!!!

Just a follow up to my earlier dilemma: RichAE91 was nice enough to let me send
my locked up washer cylinder to him for examination. It was totally locked up,
however he said that he opened it in about 20 minutes. Then proceeded to clean
up the rough areas inside and out and tried to polish it up for me. I thanked him
for his efforts and relayed to him that Mr. Strijbos just sent me a new replacement
washer cylinder along with the Lotus that I just ordered. What a great guy !!!.

y2khappens wrote:I have a washer cylinder that is completely locked up.
Would anyone be willing to work on it that knows how
to open it. When a friend locked it up, I used a couple
channel locks to free it up and made it worse. I know
"no brain, no pain". Maybe it is beyond selvage, how-
ever it's no good to me this way. Thanks in advance.
If you are willing to give it a shot, send my your mailing
address please. I don't really want to bother Willie S.

so far i've had two washer cylinders that have been locked up. both times they have opened without using the proper method and both times it has been impossible to completely disassemble the mechanism. therefore im sending both back to Wil for examination (when he's back from HK) to see what he says, if its my doing or not ...... :?

It's strange, I seem to be in the minority who have never had any issues with the Washer Cylinder at all. I've fully disassembled it a few times with no problems, and I haven't even had to clean or oil it. I can see how the tolerances in the design could be prone to jamming, but obviously I've been lucky so far.

Just to clarify I did not 'solve' Wil's cylinder in 20min (it was totally seized) I spent 20min or so using external tools to allow me to open the cylinder in an unofficial manner, which then meant that i could free up the mechanism repair the damaged sections and make some minor modifications to the tolerances to allow me to reassemble the puzzle correctly and it now works as it should and have tried to make it seize (like my original one did) but I have been unsuccsesful in that endeavour it is in perfect working order.

So to this I say it is not impossible with a little lateral thinking it can be quite easily disassembled without damaging the mechanism any more than it already has been by the seizing and with a metal working file you can easily repair that damage and get back working as it should!!
