Re: Burrs
If any of us buy one of your designs, you do get a kickback right? I mean we arent just supporting Shapeways are we? I'm not typically a burr guy, but I might support someone in my RevoFamily if I spot something that catches my eye.

Re: Burrs
I do get a small kickback from shapeways ($1-3 depending on design), but I'm not in it for the money...
All money I get goes back into new design prototypes (or buying new puzzles).
That being said, of my designs, I really only recommend:
Little MazeNCubes
More MazeNCubes
and Tubular Burr
the Big MazeNCubes is a bit nuts, and the Really Big MazeNCubes are for the clinically insane
Then again, given this crowd, maybe these last two are more appropriate

Re: What other puzzles do you recommend?
Just got these puzzles through the post from Wil Strijbos:

Aluminium Burrs And Spanner (Wil Strijbos) by Puzzleparadox, on Flickr
These are some seriously cool puzzles! I don't normally like burr puzzles, but these really are an exception. And he's only making the burrs in a limited quantity, so I'd recommend getting on touch with him now if you want them in your collection.

Re: What other puzzles do you recommend?
Ah! So you got some of the burrs from Wil too then?!
I ordered both too. I'm hoping they'll have arrived by the time I get back home tomorrow
How tight/loose are the pieces?
You say Wil's making these himself? I figured he might be but couldn't decide if he'd bought them in from elsewhere.

As soon as he told me that he had machined burrs from aluminium I just knew I had to have them.bluesign2k wrote:Ah! So you got some of the burrs from Wil too then?!

The pieces have a perfect fit! They don't rattle around at all as they are nice and snug, some moves are a little stiffer than others but you can expect that kind of thing from puzzles machined in small numbers.
Let me know what you think when they arrive though!

Re: What other puzzles do you recommend?
How do you find out what he has available? He doesn't appear to have a website at all. I have only been able to find an email address for him.KB64 wrote:Hi Oli

Re: Burrs
So I've had a chance to had a good play with these aluminium burrs from Wil and I think they're great!
Wil sells them as 7 moves [to remove the first piece] and the other as 10 moves... although, in both of them two consecutive moves involve moving two pieces in the same direction which from my (minimal) recent reading on burrs, I believe actually makes them Level 6.4 and 9.3 respectively (I'm fairly new to burrs so don't quote me on that). Having put the pieces into the IBM burr tool it suggests that the level 6.4 is unique and the 9.3 has two solutions.
For those who are interested, the piece numbers using IBM burr tool numbering system (converted to decimal) are:
Level 6.4 pieces: 7, 15, 35, 111, 147, 287
Level 9.3 pieces: 7, 11, 131, 131, 351, 1635
I'm hoping he decides to make some more... I'd love to see a CCU10 in aluminium!

Re: Burrs
Brilliant Chris! I'm glad you like them.
But you can remove the first piece from each burr with 7 and 10 moves by only moving one piece in one direction at a time, you don't need to do any simultaneous movements.
