I still don't understand why anyone would spend stupid money on a Black. Why not just wait and spend a fraction of that amount on a whole new maze and just get a Black Obs?

New mazes are more fun than the sense of having something that many others don't, surely?

Fully agree with you, I just don't think that a re-release of a limited edition is a good choice either.

I agree with limited editions, I have all of the 16's except black and handmade and I am good with that. I bought the plastic black and that's good enough. I don't buy them for the post market value, I would have just bought gold instead of the whole set when they came first came out. But I would be sad if a puzzle I owned became less "special".

I totally agree with the above. Surely its about the enjoyment of completeing the puzzle, not its after market sales.

Personally I like the idea that (in the case of static puzzles) the collectors, such as myself, have the option of a limited (but still about 125-250) amount of Extremes and then plastic obsessions for everyone else. When the Black and Homemade were originally offered the obsessions didn't exist so for a while it did seem like a lot of us were going to miss out on the fun of navigating a new maze. Really the Red had it best, a reasonable amount of extremes combined with a larger release of obsessions.

i didnt think the black was challenging nor very delightful. that was until i opened it. it was seeing the shaft that made it special. you couldntdo that with the obs. and now the new obs is different.
