The Beach

has anyone else seen that leonardo dicaprio movie called "the beach"?
man i have been looking into a trip to where that movie was filmed..
Phuket,Thialand.....
unreal!.....
i think i may take my wife to the caicos islands here in the carribean first,but a couple nights in Bankok,then onto Phuket sounds like the trip of a lifetime!

I heard they really messed up that beach in the filming i also heard that palm trees aren't native. does look nice though. wild but nice.

ah man really?....i saw a globetrekker special on phuket...hopefully it has healed from hollywoods damage that was in 2000
man,they where smoking up in that movie...right on the beach!...i guess things are a little looser in thialand....

updaTE:after a little research Thialand is a little "hot" right now for many reasons...so i(we) have decided on Maui for now...
anyone ever been to hawaii or any of the hawaiin islands?
i think by the hawaii tourism website that maui offers us the most of what we want to see,but i would love some input from other globe trekkers

Just got back from Hawaii last week. Didn't go to Maui but did Oahu, Big Island and Kauai. My girlfriend just finished putting togethar a slideshow from each island and once I get back I'll see if I can get you a link if you want to see it. We had a blast although we don't really do relaxing vacations so I can tell you what it's like to just sit on the beach and drink
Although this weekend was more of that. Standing in waist deep water partying with 1000's for about 5 hrs on Crab Island in Destin FL, then Canoeing all day today. I think I need a vacation from my vacation.
