What does it matter what computer you use? You may as well ask what spanner is your favourite in the toolbox. Computers come and go, they are never quick enough and and are soon yesterday's news (likewise software). You may as well chase the wind.

I've got a Revo
Well an Acer Aspire Revo
Doubled the memory up to 4gb and it's plenty quick enough for the odd stuff I do on it anyway
It's far faster than the enormous box it replaced that was half the speed

Falcon NW make amazing machines, not only are they powerful but also look fantastic. That being said, if you don't care about the aesthetics, Sager make equivalent powerhouses at a lower price point.

Re: What is your favorite brand of computer?
I no longer work in IT, but I have worked on mainframes, mini-mainframes, PC systems, linked workstations, workstations and I have built many desktop PCs systems (for work and pleasure) and bought quite a few laptops over the years and every single one of these computers were just tools to achieve a task to me. They could all have been better, faster and more efficient at the tasks I have asked of them over the years. I have built top of the line systems using the best the money can buy components and in every single case the computer was eclipsed by a newer technology and or speed increase in less than 3 months. Whether you are an apple or PC fan the reality is that the computer in front of you represents a series of compromises to performance based on the price point you have aquired it at. Even exotic systems (overclocked and water cooled etc.) are eclipsed by newer and more exotic systems within a very short period of time.
It only matters that your computer does what you want of it to do. Fundamentally it is a spanner not a gadget. Your shiny new toy will soon be yesterdays news, surely you can see this. I am not a killjoy, I simply do not understand the interest in this thread. Sorry perhaps I should not have posted on this thread given my opinion.
I am a fan of the early Cray computers, which were mordern sculptures as well as serious computers at the time of their creation.

laptops are great for resting cups of tea on.
self built desktop pc's are where its at. mine is showing its age now as my upgrade money seems to be attacked viciously by the demands of my children. poor me

Re: What is your favorite brand of computer?
My favorite anecdote about Cray concerns beer.
Cray's tech people, who pack and ship their computers, have a bit of a tradition. That tradition is to put a 6 pack of locally brewed beer in with each Cray's container when they ship it.
A few years ago, they received a big order from Saudi Arabia. Obliviously, the tech guy tossed a six pack of beer into the computer. As a result, Cray's VP got an on-the-company vacation to Germany, where he intercepted the package and pulled the six pack of beer out mid-shipment so that it would not be sent to Saudi Arabia.

Home built computers rock, but portability is absolutely amazing when you need it. For an office machine, I'll go with a solidly built laptop any day.
