Cleaning
I have been letting others try out my ReVo, and now the first 1/2" or so looks, well, tarnished. i tried washing it, but ir didnt seem to have any affect whatsoever. Any suggestions?

Lubing
With the shaft removed, some of you have mentioned that you put oil on the shaft. Type & Amount? i replaced my original certificate with like sized piece of paper for those who can crack my revo to sign. seems like it helps get people interested it the puzzle once they play with it a time or two. do you think the oiling will affect the new certificante at all?

yeah ,i over lubed my revo and oil got on the plastic piece and ruined it! ..
be carefull to not over oil a unopened revo...a little dab will do you!

this puzzle was manufactured at such close tolerances that unless he makes the parts out of titanium or equally as strong metals it will show wear ,no matter what....
my SE has some minor wear on the inside of the sleeve.
i am beginning to think we should lube these babies with some form of "suspension lubricant"..like a bearing grease...to create a "floating" of the core....ill let you all know if i figure this out

So then it sounds like you are going to be running some lube tests. I know i would really appreciate that. I want to put something on mine, but i want it to be the right thing in the right amount.

I know isis users talked about over lubing thier puzzles too. someone mentioned watch makers, back in the day, only got 3 drops of oil per day and it was MORE than enough.

I sprayed a bit of wd40 on the shaft , I wonder if the parchment is soaked?

You may be okay. WD40 is a temporary lubricant and dries pretty quickly. for long term use i'd use something more permanent. then again, a shot of WD40 during occasional use may be the smart way to go.

as long as you dont soak it to the point of the lube going into the "core" area you should be fine...you obviously see the shaft in the center moves slightly...try not to let lubricant into this area...just on the shaft and on the inside of the sleeve

you do want enough tho ,that the chrome finish doesnt wear off the nickle core

awsome guys.

Once its open I will be making sure its oiled properly and then it goes into the display cabinet.

I will be definatly making sure its going to last more than one lifetime.

Are you sure the core is nickle?
