I can't respond to this post in it's current location.Hi All
I have been at the engineers yesterday to talk about progress.
They have just moved a second factory next door to the current production site which Don has proudly shown me that will double the output and increase the range of services. This will in the long term greatly benefit our requirements as more complex puzzles can be made.
The downside is to ensure production quality is met, they require two more weeks as Don and I both feel the fantastic new design deserves proper testing.
This has also put back slightly the yellow, probably by the same time - Once a machine is set up, they can run no problem (we just need the run schedule around the Silver to fit the Yellow in as it uses the same tooling).
Ade just smiled when I asked him is the Yellow any good!
The concentration is now wholly on the Silver - so am shifting the date of the Silver launch to the 14th October.
The Silver is going to be much more like the Gold for two reasons:
1) Allow Jazz to catch up! (seriously I feel the releases need to be extended to give more people the chance to get on the leader board)
2) The Silver is estimated at 40-100 hours (I really would like you all to have some fingers left for the Gold rather than just stumps!) so moving the Gold to 2010 seems ideal.
In between - we now have a new "Kid Safe Plastic Version" which is 200g vs 600g for the metal, machined for a perfect finish and will retail at £19.99! We are planning to launch on the 30th November instead of the Gold.
This is very exciting and I will be updating the website to show this. You may think plastic but it has been much better than I had hoped. Plus you get a Blue - like the Metal, the Green - again like the metal, the black - yes "The Black" but in plastic and finally a new Red!
We are going to aim this at the younger 12+ but tests have shown its just as "clicky" (Michael thinks its better - but he is just a teenager!) and I intend to do a lot of marketing for the Christmas period!
I need 4 immediate serious testers to a) try out and b) see if their kids and friends like it.
RevoRabbit and cr80 will get one each - I need someone in France and a UK person.
Further testers will then be needed in some of the other countries like Canada, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Australia etc.
Unlike the metal version - the shaft is not removable but reveals a unique number - leading to a website that we are going to put rewards onto.
The Gold is not forgotten - oh no. I am combining some new ideas making this a fitting final puzzle to the series. Plans to launch could be based on the toy fairs in the USA and Europe (January 2010).
Some of you have been putting suggestions forward - I am trying to keep the designs from my head but feel I would not like to waste the evilness designs out there - so I am thinking of having a "User(s)" design that we will put into production. I will explain later the parameters needed and rules plus I will be selling the current designs (after the competition!).
A lot has been happening so I will try to keep you all posted.
PM me any questions
Kind regards
Chris

I think that the plastic one sounds very cool. I think that I will put one on my wish list for christmas. I hope that chris release other nonrevo puzzle on the unsuspectiong public. I like puzzles for the sake of puzzles so I wouldn't even need a prize reward for it, not that I would turn it down if I was given one. I still want to see what that evil disc was that was shown around earlier.
