[mod edit: discussion of this announcement]
I just ordered gold plated Copper SE #5 (to match my collection)
edit: Is it possible to get these gold plated Coppers unassembled like the gold plated CE sets? I'm concerned about damaging/wearing the gold plating by solving it (this will eventually just be a display piece after all).

Very nice stet! I assume your CE is gold plated, is that correct? Now all you need is a run of the others (Lime, Orange, Gunmetal, etc.) in gold and with SE #5 serial numbers.

Mmm complete set in gold...

Will the gold plating be damaged or get visible wear from solving the maze, or is it made to withstand use?
In short, are the gold plated meant for display, or is the plating strong enough to be used?

The primary purpose is for display, the gold plating will mark no more than the nickel does, but will perhaps be more noticeable.
