Hi! New guy here, looking forward to joining the community

Post by Gato7 »

Hello! In the past few days I have been reading up on Revomaze and the community, and I am very excited to be getting a Revo and joining you guys in what seems to be the most interesting and difficult saga of puzzles in the world, with an awesome community to boot. I'm not sure if I will ever reach the ranks of the select few who have solved the Handmade, but I'll try! :D

(I know this has been discussed before but here goes)
I have limited funds to spend on puzzles, so I must ask your opinion on which one to buy. I have lots of experience with twisty puzzles and some experience with disentanglement puzzles, but I don't know what to expect from these! I can't decide between getting a Blue or a Bronze first; I'm afraid that If I get the blue I will solve it (relatively) quickly, and therefore I kinda want to start directly on the bronze, but that might be too hard. I am an intelligent individual and am good at thinking outside the box, and I love tinkering with stuff. So, do you think that it would be okay to start on the Bronze? I just don't want to end up being stuck in the pool for months :?

Thank you guys for your time, and I'll see you around!

Welcome!

The Blue puzzle is by far the easiest, but many have started with the Bronze and found that very challenging. I don't think any of the higher puzzles are available at the moment outside of the CE set, but these are impossibly difficult as a first puzzle anyway. Bronze will be the best bang for your buck.

All the best,
Matt :D

EDIT: Silver is available, but don't buy it! It's far too difficult for a first time puzzler. The orange is also a great puzzle. Since the R1 competition is complete, you should buy the V2 Bronze if you decide to go that way.

Personally id get the 1st 2 obsessions. They are just as good as the extremes but less than half the price.
After completing these, if you still like them. Go for the bronze and work your way up from there.
I personally feel its a waste spending that much on the 1st 2 extremes (if you have limited funds as I did) as they can be solved in a few hours if your good at puzzles. Id never done any sort of puzzling and solved the 1st 2 in a matter of hours.
I also went for obsessions to start with.
black obs v1
Blue Ob v2 = Opened
Bronze Ex = Opened
Orange Ex = Opened
Silver Ex = Opened 35-40 hours
Lime = In preparation...
Titanium = Opened 6/7 hours (Loved that final run)
Copper = On its way...

Hi & welcome :D

Both Matt and Rob make good points, if you want an extreme (metal) puzzle then go for the bronze. If you've not tried a revo before and have limited funds, perhaps begin with a blue obsession then the bronze if you like it? I'd probably go straight for the bronze though.

FWIW. With the release of the CE sets, Series 1 will be winding down during the coming months. I believe when this happens stock will not be replenished.

Thank you guys for the warm welcome!

Okay, I think I will start off with the Bronze. The V1 and the V2 are identical, in terms of the maze, it's just the sleeve that is different, correct? If they are, I will probably get the V1 as neither of them any involve competition (anymore) and I like the look a bit better. Thanks!

Yes, the puzzle is the same. The outer sleeve is the only difference. Good luck!
