Assembled my Hanayama Equa Incorrectly

Post by robbaylis79 »

After solving my Equa puzzle, I re assembled it to realise I have put the 2 inner parts back together incorrectly. Now I cant take it apart again even though I know how I did it the 1st time. Anyone had this happen to them before and is it easy to take apart?

A firiend jammed his too, maybe in a different way. He had to use tools to force it. Left some marks on it but it still works.

I've been playing with mine a bit and had about the same thing happen. I walked away... came back to it a couple days later and played with it...

You should hopefully be able to get it apart without tools... tedious amounts of shifting and turning... Best done with a movie! (or 8!)

I checked the videos on youtube. Unfortunately they are all videos of it being taken apart with it being correctly assembled in the 1st place. 1 of my inner pieces are the wrong way round so the video solutions dont help me :(

Time to draw the pieces and take the time to think about the mechanics of it. In theory, if it was able to go together, it should be able to come apart.

Whereas, my plugged well puzzle is stuck and I cannot figure out why for the life of me.

I am also the proud owner of a completely jammed Cast Equa. I keep meaning to bring it to an MPP to see if anyone else can free it, but honestly it may be a job for a pair of pliers now. :? I've never liked the Equa as a puzzle, so likely won't be getting another one if I do break it in the process.

[pedantry] Not to be overly picky, but while this is not Revo related, it is puzzle related. So now it's in the 'Other Puzzles of Interest' category. [/pedantry] ;)

PHhht, this is why I do not move topics around. At least it was in the right parent topic.
