I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned here already, but for those who aren't aware - the 80 (!) entries for this years International Puzzle Design Competition have been announced:

Although never played any of these, my personal favorites, based on what I would like to own, visuals, and how I imagine they will play out, are:
1€ Labyrinth Puzzle, Bare Bones, Fidgety Rabbits, Nested Cubes, Smartegg, Square in the Bag, Tango in Nut, Tritalon, Twisted Symmetry, The Vault.
The order is where they appeared on that list only.
Bare in mind I may be biased on the types of puzzles I like, thus no twisty puzzles etc

7. The Vault

From Experience (personal of course)
1. 1 Euro Labyrinth - Nasty puzzle, that you will most likely be very frustrated by. I did solve it but not nearly as enjoyable a puzzle as the 4 steps visible lock.
2. Bare Bones - I was rather unswayed by this. A nice little puzzle, and the maze is very hard to see. Given no entry/exit point to the maze somewhat less satisfying
3. Double G - Excellent. Very challenging puzzle, and worth getting.
4. Lock Room Mystery - Brilliant. Very clever and a fun puzzle.
5. Lucy - Hated it. I was intrigued when I first played with it and got nowhere. Then after 2 hours I gave in and used the solution. An hour later I had it open ... and never opened it again. Very temperamental and a pita to open.
6. Perplexing Palace - Nice little puzzle and a fair challenge
7. The Vault - Brilliant. Opening is only half the battle and such a satisfying crack when the initial lock is solved. Definitely want one of these!
Full reviews of all the entries coming on my blog in the coming week.

What about Square in the Bag? I'm quite intrigued by that puzzle.

Square in the Bag won the Puzzler's Award, so it won the majority voting.
I thought it was a trivial puzzle that I'd seen before, but I was in the minority...

I agreed with Derek on the square. It's a puzzle my grandfather gave me as a child. It's fun, but not new, and easy to make one yourself.

You can buy Tritalon from W.G.H Strijbos
