I look forward to hearing your thoughts as first time buyers of Eric's creations. :D

First impressions:

Build quality is top notch, great fit, nice woods. The two halves cage is by far my favorite of the two, for the reason that once it is assembled, it stays assembled. The cage for four sticks looks great in the picture, but it won't actually stay in that finished position. 3 of the 4 burrs move in quite a few directions. So touching it at all causes the whole puzzle to somewhat disassemble. If anyone were to pick it up it immediately looses its shape. This also gives the puzzle a little more of a cheap / loose feel. Just my opinion. Im curious to analyze it more and see if all the gaps and spaces are really necessary for the solution. Anyways, glad to have them both in my collection now!

I'd assume that all of the 22 holes are necessary for the intended solution.

Check out the information page on PWBP here if you're interested. It only has 1 assembly from a possible 1020 solutions.

But I agree with you on the subject of solved states. I do like puzzles that can reliably hold their fully solved state when on display.

Productivity? What is this 'productivity' you speak of?

I reckon it's an historical concept known only to non-puzzlers!

Hmm...you're probably right. Sounds overrated to me.

Arrived and solved! It is a really nicely made box with a pretty clever solution. Not too difficult I don't think, but nice.

Two lids and but no top.....how odd. ;)
