I think that Square Dance is an absolutely incredible puzzle! One of my favourite Tom Jolly designs thus far. And coupled with Eric's manufacturing skill this has turned out to be a very impressive piece!

Has anyone managed to solve it yet? (Without the aid of BurrTools ;) )

Edit: I should add that no...I haven't solved it yet. And not through lack of trying. :?

yeah, I solved it, and it is pretty tough... I did remember where one or two pieces ended up during the disassembly, so it wasn't completely a blind solve... that helped a bit...

I bow to your epic puzzle solving skills!

I'm still working on it. I've given it a good few hours so far. All I really remember from the disassembly is how and where the first and second pieces come out. :?

Same here I know what the last piece was to come out and where it was. I can also remember what the first two pieces out were, and I can just about remember the movement sequence I think... but it's still not back together yet!

A bit off topic but did anyone get of of Tom Lensch's Funny Cubes 2 when the came up a while ago... I did, and I still haven't solved it. Infact, I measured all the pieces and have resorted to using Excel to solve it... it has me totally stumped! :(

I have his funny cubes, and have around 4 solutions to it. I'm not convinced that any of them is perfect, but they're all pretty close!

Yeh, this is my problem. I have found a number of solutions where I can get all the blocks to fit but none make a perfect square on the top layer. I found different 2 solutions which gives something that is pretty flippin' close to a square, but they're both just far enough out that I'm convinced that they're not the solution.

I got a quick look at James Dalgety's copy of Funny Cubes (not #2) and from what I remember, the solution looked pretty perfect.

I hate to admit defeat on puzzles, but I might have to ask Tom for the solution :(
